How Being Christian Doesn't Mean Being Perfect...Just Grateful

I once told a good priest that his homilies really hit home. And I asked him how he got so close to the mark...I felt like all his homilies were exactly for me. His answer was that when he preaches he is really talking to himself the whole time.

That was a great answer and I am sure a true one. The very thoughts which I share on this blog with the intent to help others, I often read and reread to remind myself. Because even though I know these things, like being a good military spouse, they are harder to actually do than talk about. Reading and rereading them, especially the military posts, is really helpful . We have to keep our eye on the ball all the time, cause if when we don't we can miss it.

In the same way, as Christians we just fall short of the mark.We are sinners. We are just leaky vessels and have to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus all the time. And only through Him have we been made perfect.

Today, I am thankful that I am a Christian, that Christ has died for me.

It's a beautiful and mysterious truth that none of us can test or explain or even defend. We just believe it because we choose to.

Today, I am thankful for my family, friends, the blessings of life; like sunshine and simply being.

Today, I am thankful for teaching a wonderful art co-op in my home these last few weeks.

The kids breathed new life into my love for art and reminded me why I love teaching. It felt so good to help them see things in a new way. What better than art for that. We used:

The children also reminded me how important it is to be generous. Sometimes we get stuck, perhaps because we get burnt out, so we stop giving. We just can't underestimate how being generous is like "priming the pump" of life. What we give we often get back in some way as a return. It's not why we do it, we don't expect anything in return, but we are often blessed back in some way.

I am thankful that I was reminded of that.

Here are some of their projects:

With the move drawing near,

I am thankful for receiving a wonderful shelter to live in.

For all these things I am very grateful this week. Linking up @ Red Oak Lane for:
